Size:
Height 18 - 36 inches
Care:
Light:
Amaryllis thrives in bright, indirect light, like a south-facing window
Water:
Initially, water sparingly until growth appears, then increase watering to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Humidity:
Amaryllis plants generally thrive in an average home humidity level, but aim for 40-60% relative humidity for optimal growth.
Temperature:
Amaryllis prefers a relatively cool room (60-65°F).
Soil:
well-draining potting soil, leaving the top third of the bulb exposed
Pruning:
Cut off the spent flower stalk about an inch above the bulb.

Healthy, mature amaryllis bulbs often produce smaller secondary bulbs, called offsets or bulblets, near the base of the main bulb. These can be carefully removed and repotted to create new plants.

Once planted, After an amaryllis blooms, cut the flower stems to about 1-2 inches above the bulb. Allow the leaves to grow and nourish the bulb, then gradually reduce watering as the plant naturally goes dormant. Store the bulb in a cool, dark place for 6-12 weeks to encourage it to rebloom next year.
