Spikemoss, also called clubmoss, is not a true moss but is considered a "fern ally" due to its ancient lineage and reproduction through spores. It is prized as a houseplant for its lush, delicate, and spreading ground cover habit, making it an excellent choices for terrariums, dish gardens, or pots where their foliage can cascade.

Selaginella kraussiana
Care:
Light:
It prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which will scorch its delicate foliage. A north or east-facing window is often ideal.
Water:
The most critical aspect of its care is moisture. The soil should be kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely. Using room temperature water is recommended to avoid shocking the plant.
Humidity:
High humidity is essential. If your home is dry, you will need to supplement humidity by misting the plant regularly, placing it on a pebble tray with water, using a humidifier, or keeping it in a naturally humid location like a bathroom or a closed terrarium.
Temperature:
It thrives in average household temperatures, ideally between 60-75°F (15-24°C).
Soil:
Use a well-draining but moisture-retentive potting mix. A peat-based mix with added perlite works well.
